BarrLog
A lightweight tool for tracking focused work and understanding where your time goes.
A simple work log for focused projects.
BarrLog helps you record what you worked on, how long you spent on it, and how that time adds up over time.
It started with a practical problem: when working on several projects, it is surprisingly difficult to reconstruct where the time actually went.
Rather than building another elaborate productivity system, BarrLog focuses on the smallest useful unit: what did I work on today?
Keep working, not tracking
BarrLog is designed to make logging work quick enough that it does not become another task on your list.
Sign in, record a session with a label and how long it took, and edit or remove entries as plans change. Over time that builds a useful history without maintaining a complicated timesheet or productivity ritual.
The project is also an experiment in building a small, focused application from the ground up, with the goal of learning what makes work tracking genuinely useful rather than simply adding more metrics.
Will it stay free?
BarrLog is free to use, and right now it costs me nothing to run. If that changes and I can't keep giving it away:
- I'll post the change here at least 60 days before it happens.
- You'll be able to download your data before anything changes.
- The source stays public on GitHub, so you can run your own copy.
